Formation Programs Seminary Life - New Year In Formation
Now, in September 2003, a new year begins and a ‘new’ formation community gathers. The 2003-04 community at Oyster Bay is made up of ten members. There are the three priests from last year (Frs. Jerry, Art, and Pat), the five returning seminarians (Jesus, Abel, Tri, John, and Joe), and two new men (Marvin Navas and Hugo Medellin). Jesus Guadarrama will be ordained a deacon on September 27 and minister for a pastoral year on Long Island. Marvin and Hugo had been living in the Discernment House in Charlotte with Vince Finnerty for the last few years and decided to take the next step of entering a Formation House while studying Philosophy at SJU.

Seminary Life - Tri Minh Duong, John Holliday and Joe Fitzgerald take final vows.
On September 11, the feast of Fr. John Gabriel Perboyre,( a Vincentian priest martyred in China), our seminarians Tri Minh Duong, John Holliday and Joe Fitzgerald took their final vows in the Congregation in a very nice and well-attended ceremony at the community chapel in St. John’s University. At the Eucharist, the men pronounced their vows and our Provincial Superior Fr. Thomas F. McKenna, C.M. presented them with their vow crosses. After the Liturgy, there was an excellent reception and dinner for all the attendees. The confreres at SJU really made this special day for the Province a festive one.
